Millions of people with low credit scores may be seeing an increase really soon. Some serious tax liens and civil judgments will soon disappear from millions of credit reports. According to the Consumer Data Industry Association, tax liens and civil judgments will soon disappear from a lot of people’s credit reports. As a result, FICO scores will improve dramatically.
The three major credit bureaus — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion — have agreed to remove any tax lien and civil judgment data that doesn’t include all of a consumer’s information. That information can include a person’s full name, address, Social Security number, or date of birth. Changes will begin July 1.
Some people could see a point increase of 20 points or more.
