In part 1 of Example of Hard Credit Inquiries, we shared the types of credit inquiries that can bring your credit score down a few points. They included applying for a loan, mortgage or credit card. Credit inquiries allow lenders to see when and where you’ve searched for credit in the past so they can have a better idea of how trustworthy you are.
Here are five other things that can show up on your credit report as a hard inquiry:
- Submitting an application to rent a new apartment.
- Verification of identity by a financial institution.
- Going to rent a car.
- Applying for cable or internet.
- Getting a cell phone contract
