There are plenty of sources to find obtain your credit scores. However, the scores created by Fair Isaac Corp., aka FICO, is most commonly used. This is what you want to go by when checking out your credit report.
Credit scores through this system range from 300 to 850 and are broken down into these categories:
• 800 or higher: Exceptional
• 740 to 799: Very good
• 670 to 739: Good
• 580 to 669: Fair
• 579 or lower: Poor
So, what constitutes bad credit? Anything less than 669 is considered bad or poor credit. If you want the best possible rate with lenders, you will need to maintain at least a 730 or higher.
